2014 Heathfield Shiraz

Sweeping out from a limestone ridge, layers of the famous terra rossa soil hold firm to the roots of Heathfield’s vines. And its here, nestled between pristine nature reserves and distinguished wine regions, that the Tidswell family craft their cool climate varietal wines.

It’s a rugged land, but one that rewards those who can sit back and absorb its beauty with a glass of Heathfield Shiraz in hand.

The colder and wet winter of 2013 and some good spring rains set up the vineyard well before a long, hot and dry summer. This resulted in average grape yields at harvest of consistent quality.

Select Shiraz parcels were picked from ‘Road Block’ at our estate grown Heathfield vineyards. Harvested at 14.5 Baume, it was then matured for eighteen months in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads.
The wine has deep colour and bouquet of luscious berries.  A well-balanced palate with complexity, it combines soft tannins with vanilla and spice characters, to result in a classy wine of generous length.
Enjoy with beef curry or slow cooked lamb!

Consume now or cellar until 2024.
