2013 Heathfield Shiraz

Sweeping out from a limestone ridge, layers of the famous terra rossa soil hold firm to the roots of Heathfield’s vines. And its here, nestled between pristine nature reserves and distinguished wine regions, that the Tidswell family craft their cool climate varietal wines.

It’s a rugged land, but one that rewards those who can sit back and absorb its beauty with a glass of Heathfield Shiraz in hand.

The colder and drier winter of 2012 meant that we welcomed spring rains before a long, hot summer which resulted in high grape yields at harvest in late March 2013.

Tasting Notes

Shiraz parcels were selected and picked from ‘Road Block’ at our family estate grown Heathfield vineyards. Harvested at 14.5 Baume, the fermented grape juice was then matured for eighteen months in new American hogsheads followed by second use French oak barrels.

The 2013 Heathfield Shiraz presents a colour and bouquet of luscious ripe berries.  The delicious savoury palate of redcurrant and plum, with a hint of mocha and spice, blends with silky tannins to reveal a classy shiraz of generous length.

Consume now or cellar responsibly until 2023.
